Portugal Banco de Portugal 1000 Escudos 2.4.1965 Pick 171
A striking note featuring a representation of Dom Diniz (or Dinis) at right. He was Portugal's sixth King. Although he advanced Portugal in a number of ways, his prime concern was the rural infrastructure and that earned him the nickname Farmer King. His image is also featured as the watermark on this example. The vignette on the back illustrates the founding of the University of Lisbon in 1290. This very scarce note is graded PMG Choice Extremely Fine 45 and will make a welcome addition to the winning bidder's collection.
