Mexico Banco de Londres Mexico y Sud America 5 Pesos ND (1882) Pick UNL Specimen PCGS Gem New 66PPQ.
An unlisted and very attractive Bradbury Wilkinson example whose layout is shared with contemporary issues across the world, including the Finnish "Wolfman" note, with the light intricate underprints and steelplate designs. A further annotation of "21 Feb 82" help us date this example. But when investigating issues of the London Bank of Mexico and South America Limited, we can see the first issues for Mexico started in 1883, and notes for the bank through all operated countries including Peru were designed and printed by the American Bank Note Company.

Most likely, this note was a proposal that was never adopted. The date that was after the bank's founding in London may indicate this was prepared as a response to a tender for new banknotes in the countries of operation. As the design was never selected, it never entered any catalogs, and to an extent, lost to time as both the bank and Bradbury Wilkinson were acquired in the 20th Century. Perforated cancelled.
