Hong Kong Pick 179 Progressive Proof Set

Hong Kong Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation $500 ND (1935-69) Pick 179 Progressive Proofs Six Examples.
These Progressive Proofs form an interesting set, and all pieces are graded by PCGS. The first five pieces listed are concerned with the face of the design and the sixth is of the back design. The first example has the portrait of Sir Thomas Jackson who was the third chief manager of the bank, the most senior executive position at HSBC. He died in 1915. This Progressive Proof grades Apparent Choice New 63 with minor mounting remnants on the face and back. The second is of the ornate border, denominations, and background. It grades Apparent Choice About New 58 with edge tears and mounting damage on the back. The next three are of the undertint on the face, and they grade Apparent Choice About New 58 with minor mounting remnants on the face and back, Choice About New 55, and Apparent Choice About New 55 with mounting remnants on the face and back. The Back Progressive Proof grades Apparent Choice About New 58 with minor mounting remnants on the face and back. As usual for Proofs, each has annotations, and that includes, in this case, a date of October 23, 1934.
