Single Finest Graded 500 Rupien

German East Africa Deutsch-Ostafrikanische Bank 500 Rupien 2.9.1912 Pick 5 PMG Choice Uncirculated 63 EPQ.
The stunning 500 Rupien of German East Africa, printed by Giesecke & Devrient, is one of Africa's most desirable banknotes. The small serial number range indicates how few were printed and issued. After Germany's defeat in World War I, Germany lost its colonies of East Africa, Southwest Africa, and Cameroon. Many of these 500 Rupien notes were redeemed or brought back to Germany around 1919 and 1920. This incredible example is the single finest example graded in the PMG Population Report, and the only Uncirculated example granted EPQ status. Iconic and extremely rare in this top notch grade.
