    Silver Backed 1000 Pesos

Cuba Republica de Cuba 1000 Pesos 1944 Pick 76a PMG Choice Very Fine 35 EPQ.
From 1934 to 1949, Republica de Cuba banknotes were issued and redeemable for silver. The 1000 Pesos note was the highest denomination and was redeemable for a small fortune in silver coin. At the time of cataloging, this is the only example in the PMG Population Report with EPQ status, of which this note is duly worthy. 1944 is the first date for this highest denomination type. Rare and worthy of consideration, this type seldom appears today.
