Sharply Printed 1891 $20 Treasury Note

Fr. 375 $20 1891 Treasury Note PMG Uncirculated 62 EPQ.
A well embossed example of this popular US Treasury Note that displays excellent color and sharp print quality. It was last on the market in our 2013 Central States auction where it was then housed in a PCGS New 62PPQ holder. The bottom margin is just a bit tight at lower right, which undoubtedly resulted in the assigned grade from both services. John Marshall, whose portrait appears on this note, served as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. He died in 1835. The portrait was engraved by Charles Schlecht from a painting done by Harry Inman.
