    Three-Digit Serial Fr. 347 $1 1890 Treasury Note

Fr. 347 $1 1890 Treasury Note PMG Choice Extremely Fine 45.
The Treasury or Coin Notes were issued for a brief period time with the majority out of circulation by 1900. Despite their short tenure, they were issued in two series that were differentiated primarily by their backs. The 1890 series notes feature highly elaborate green backs. This is an extremely attractive large brown treasury seal $1 note with Edwin Stanton pictured at the left. The bold green back has a large ONE across the center. Mike bought this desirable three-digit serial number example A207 in 1990. A beautiful piece with the look of Gem Uncirculated. The margins on both sides exhibit precision, and the color is vibrant. We are uncertain why this did not earn an "EPQ" modifier, but the eye-appeal certainly warrants a strong realization.
    From The Mike Coltrane Collection.
