    Description

Collis P. Huntington, Stock, Green-Black, 1880s. Signed on the Chesapeake, Ohio and Southwestern Railroad Co. Unissued, but signed by Huntington with a slight pen line cancellation. As a railroad magnate and capitalist, Huntington joined Leland Stanford, Charles Crocker, and Mark Hopkins in securing government support for a railroad to cross the Sierra Nevada as part of the transcontinental route. This so-called Huntington group won exclusive control of the project in 1863. They are often referred to as the "big four." Later, Huntington became involved in the development of the Chesapeake & Ohio.
