    Description

Civil War, Bounties for Volunteers, New York Bond, $6,000, Green-Black, 1866. Great graphics by the National Bank Note Company. These bonds were issued to raise money to pay the state's "Debt for the Payment of the Bounties" to encourage men to volunteer for the Union Army. The vignette at the top shows marching Union Troops in full uniform.
