Samuel Du Pont De Nemours - Bank Territorial
A 1812 certificate for one share signed as Administrative Director by Samuel Du Pont De Nemours. Dupont was a French statesman and co-author of the 1783 Treaty of Paris. He negotiated the Louisiana Purchase for President Jefferson, but is more widely remembered as the founder of an American family which has been influential in the political and industrial history of this country. His younger son, Eleuthere Irenee, founded a gunpowder factory in Delaware which would become the basis for one of the largest industrial organizations in the world. He spent the last years of his life residing in the United States. New, with a minor cut and pinhole at lower left. The DuPont signature is bold and clean.
