Description

David Dunbar Buick - Buick Oil Company (California)
This certificate for 20 shares is dated 1912 and signed as company President by David Dunbar Buick. Buick, in addition to being the father of the Buick automobile, also developed the process by which porcelain is attached to cast iron, thereby also giving the world the modern bathtub. Although Buick was a pioneer and legendary name in the automobile industry, he was spectacularly unsuccessful individually and by 1928 worked at the information desk at the Detroit School of Trades. He died in poverty at the age of 74 in 1929. Uncancelled. Extremely Fine.
