Allan Loughead - Lockheed Aircraft Company (Nevada)
A 1929 dated certificate for 100 shares. Green. Signed as President by Allan Loughead. Lockheed was founded in 1926 by Loughead and his brother Malcolm. The company was purchased by Detroit Aircraft in 1929, only to have the acquiring company file for bankruptcy in 1932. During that same year Robert and Courtland Gross bought Lockheed's assets and revived the business with the introduction of the Electra, a twin engine all metal airliner. The advent of World War II launched the company's business as a defense contractor with the P-38 Lightning. Today the firm remains a significant defense contractor in its identity as Lockheed Martin Corporation. Allan Loughead would later legally change his name to Lockheed in order to have its spelling match its pronunciation. This is a rare opportunity to acquire this legendary aviation pioneer on an important certificate. Uncancelled. Extremely Fine.
