Lone Finest Graded 1928 Cleveland $500

Fr. 2200-D $500 1928 Federal Reserve Note. PMG Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ.
A mere half dozen 1928 Cleveland $500s have been assigned Uncirculated grades by PMG and PCGS combined. Of those, this piece sits all by its lonesome at the top of that group. Crispy paper with original wave can be seen through the holder. The embossing of the deep green overprint is also easily evident. Our consignor was able to acquire this piece via private treaty, so there is no auction price to reference. All signs, however, point to a realization of at least five figures.
