Newly Discovered - Second Known Philadelphia District 1928 $500 Star Note

Fr. 2200-C* $500 1928 Federal Reserve Note. PMG Very Fine 30.
Hot off the heels of our recent FUN auction, which saw a more common St. Louis district replacement example in PMG VF 25 realize $50,400, comes this pleasing Philadelphia example bearing serial number 35 in a bit nicer condition. This note is just one of two currently known replacement notes for the district with the last offering way back in 2001. According to our consignor this note has been handed down in the family over the last almost 90 years since it was first acquired. Displaying honest and light, even wear, this problem free note is being offered here to the numismatic community for the first time. Based on the grades of the other known Series 1928 survivors, it is the third finest example extant. Expect this lovely Philly district example to possibly surpass our most recent realization.
