Very Rare Gem Uncirculated Cleveland Series 1928C Ten

Fr. 2003-D $10 1928C Federal Reserve Note. Gem Crisp Uncirculated.
The Cleveland district 1928C $10 is a rare note in any grade, but just about unheard of in this state of preservation. We've sold only one uncirculated example in any of our 39 sales, with that piece realizing just a hair under $9000 two years ago (against a pre-sale estimate of $4000-8000). The note we offer here is fully equal to that lovely example, with great color, crackling fresh paper, and centering which clearly meets the gem criteria. In an even stronger market for rarities, it would not surprise us at all to see this note exceed the $9000 mark achieved for its sibling two years ago.
