Uncirculated 64.More ultra high denominations have passed through Heritage Auctions than any other firm. Decades of in-hand inspections and hundreds of hours of cataloging allow for comparisons to be drawn on extensive expertise. In the case of this note, the bright overprint, exquisite paper, embossing, and margins make this one of the top $10,000s available to collectors. Its quality was worthy of being included in the D. Brent Pogue collection, one of the finest cabinets of currency ever assembled for type and condition. A small tick in the design on the face is hardly a distraction, but accounts for the lack of an Exceptional Paper Quality status. With all the attributes of an EPQ note and a hair's width from the EPQ status, we conjecture this piece has all the eye appeal of the 64 EPQ graded example at PMG. No Gems have been graded by PMG, this note remains the lone finest Dallas note to ever be offered publicly.
In total, just 1,200 notes were printed and issued for the Dallas Federal Reserve, which explains its rarity in part. Banknotes from certain districts seem the be more passionately collected and held for longer periods than others, and Dallas is one of those highly coveted districts.
