Perfectly Margined 1934 Boston $10,000
Fr. 2231-A $10,000 1934 Federal Reserve Note. PMG About Uncirculated 55.Gem sized margins frame this beautifully printed note. The design elements are all perfectly printed, highlighted by the vivid Light Green seal and serial numbers. Low serial numbers are a common sight on $5,000 and $10,000 high denominations, as the print runs were extremely small. In the case of the Series 1934 Boston $10,000's, the number barely cracked 9,700 pieces. Heavy redemption and attrition led to a small number of survivors, with appearances every 3 to 4 years on average. A tiny split is noted in the top margin, but is a refreshing reminder that this note was pulled from circulation, endured only a hint of any use and has not been altered or improved in its path to this evening's auction. It is new to the census and a welcome addition.
