Tied For Finest Known - Near-Superb Dallas $1,000 Federal Reserve Note

Fr. 2211-K $1,000 1934 Federal Reserve Note. PCGS Gem New 66PPQ.
This handsome note is one of just three 2211-K Dark Green Seal $1,000 66s known to exist with none graded higher. They have stood alone as Top Pops in the combined PMG/PCGS census since the grading services were established over 14 years ago with not a single 66 graded since. Of the three 66s, this note and one other are graded PCGS 66PPQ and are of the rarer non-mule type for the Dallas district, while the third 66 is a more common mule graded PMG 66 EPQ. Unlike collectors of 20 years ago who just sought one nice $1000 regardless of seal color, district, or variety, today's astute collectors, cognizant of the extremely low survivor rate at this high grade level snap up all such gems of all districts, varieties, and seal colors at record prices unfathomable even a decade ago. The Gem $1,000 Dallas offered here this evening in our auction has pleasing margins, superb embossing, brilliant inks and striking originality. We last sold a 2211-K PMG 66 EPQ mule in our August 2019 Platinum Night ANA auction for $19,200 and feel this much rarer non-mule beauty will easily equal or exceed that here tonight.
