Lovely Low Serial Number Morgan Courtesy Autographed Cut Sheet of Four Educational Deuces
Courtesy D.N. Morgan Autographed Cut Sheet of Four Fr. 247 $2

About Uncirculated 58.
This cut sheet of four consecutive low serial number Educational Deuces is one of the highlight items from the vaults of the Coral Gables Collection. Each piece is courtesy autographed by D.N. Morgan above his printed signature as Treasurer of the United States and each piece bears a low serial number from 217 in the "A" position to 220 in the "D" position. Although not an especially rare courtesy autograph, (Morgan was a prolific signer during his career and even courtesy autographed small size notes in his retirement years), few if any of the low serial number cut sheets remain intact. Morgan was a long-time resident of Bridgeport, Connecticut and your cataloger well remembers driving to northern Connecticut on a frigid winter evening more than forty years ago to bid on several low number Morgan autographed cut sheets consigned by the Morgan family to an obscure auction gallery in northern Connecticut. The currency was sold last, and by the time the hammer fell on the last lot, a raging blizzard was well under way, making the drive home to the mid-Hudson Valley in New York a true adventure.
The first note has been graded Choice AU 58 by PMG, while the other three each carry a grade of Choice Uncirculated 64. Many years have passed since even one low number cut sheet of Educational Deuces has reached the market, and we venture to guess that many more will pass before another opportunity to obtain a similarly courtesy autographed cut sheet offers itself once again.
