    Rare & Lovely Cr. 2

Richmond, VA- Virginia Treasury Note $50 Aug. 13, 1861 Cr. 2
A lovely example of this exceptionally rare note which is right up there with the finest PMG certified specimens we've seen to date. The best estimate is that fewer than thirty of these notes exist in all grades, although some authorities speculate that number may well be as low as twenty. The vignette at right is a portrait of John Tyler who served as Governor of Virginia, U.S. Senator from Virginia, Vice President, and President of the United States. This is an absolutely lovely note, with the appearance of a fully Uncirculated specimen from the front. The margins are clear of the design at all points, the penned signatures and serials are sharp and bold, and the note truly looks as though it had emerged from the printer last night. PMG About Uncirculated 53 EPQ, a beautiful piece fit for the very finest of collections.
