Richmond, VA- The Bank of Richmond $5 Nov. 1, 1861 G16a Jones BR85-10
Hoyer & Ludwig printed this note using a red tint reminiscent of the technique they used on the first issue of Virginia Treasury Notes. This was an attractive design that, along with a great presidential vanity signature, may have actually provided some counterfeit deterrence. PCGS grades this uncancelled note Apparent Very Fine 25 due to some small edge tears which have virtually no impact on its desirability. This is the second time we have been able to offer this specific note. It first sold (without third party grading) in our 2008 Orlando FUN Signature Auction for $977.50
