    Richmond, VA- Peoples Savings Bank 37-1/2¢ Sep. 3, 1861 J-L BR75-10 PMG Fine 12.
The note, which is printed on blue paper, features a vignette of Proserpina at left and the famous "female riding deer" vignette at right. PMG notes a small tape repair and some evidence of previous mounting that is not glaring. All of the notes from this issuer are rare with a Jones-Littlefield rarity estimate of 5-9 surviving examples. We have offered only one other example of this denomination from this issuer which was seldom used in commerce after 1857 when foreign coins ceased to have legal tender status in the United States.
