    Richmond, VA- Peoples Savings Bank 25¢ Sep. 3, 1861 J-L BR75-05 PMG Very Fine 20.
    The bank was authorized in late 1859 and was located on 11th Street between Main and Bank Streets in 1860. It was still in business in 1863 but is not believed to have survived the end of the war. printed on blue paper, the note features Proserpina standing at left and the famous "Female Riding Deer" vignette at right. PMG mentions stains. The note is rare with approximately 5-9 surviving notes known. We have previously offered one other example from the Eric Newman collection in slightly inferior condition that crossed the auction block at $1,410 in 2016.
