    Description

Richmond, VA- Farmers Bank of Virginia, Lewisburg Branch $6 Faded G258 J-L-BR25-35 PMG Good 6.
The Farmers Bank of Virginia opened in 1812 and ultimately had twelve branches before closing its doors at the end of the Civil War. $6 notes (along with $7, $8, and $9 denominations) were issued as a way to make change in the absence of low denomination bank notes. If a customer paid for a $4 purchase with a $10 note, for example, this $6 note could be paid out rather than a $1 and a $5. PMG notes repairs on the edges of the note on the back reinforce them.
