    Description

Richmond, VA- Bank of Virginia $10 18__ as UNL (Design 10G) as Jones Littlefield BR130-48 PMG Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ.
The bank was incorporated in 1804 and remained in business until it closed its doors in 1865, a victim of the Civil War. This design features a vignette of a farm wife holding her child during the harvest. A small vignette of Hope appears at the bottom and a number of oval cameo-like medallion heads are also present. The note is printed on India paper without POCs or other cancellation means present. There were three examples of this design in Lot 2014 of the 1990 ABNCo Archives sale. Very rare and likely to stay that way.
From the Charles R. Pease, Jr. Collection, Part II
