    Description

Kanawha , VA- Ruffner, Donnally & Co. / Kanawha Salt Company $20 18__ PK-10-06 Remainder About Uncirculated.
This area of present day West Virginia was home to extensive salt mining activities, particularly during the first half of the 19th century. The company was in business under several names from the 1820s until at least the 1870s. This note's design suggests that it was in use during the 1830s and early 1840s. Very rare with Jones estimating a population of perhaps two to four survivors, this note appears to be the plate note from the Virginia catalog. A single fold and two small pieces missing out of the top and bottom right margin are the only detractors on this note.
