    Clarksburg, VA- Virginia Saline Bank $1; $3; $5; $10 1815 G2; G4; G6; G8 J-L BC40-05; BC40-10; BC40-15; BC40-20 Very Good-Fine or Better.
This was an unchartered bank whose mission was to improve the Monongahela River, encourage the manufacture of salt, iron, and cotton and woolen goods, and promote agriculture. The bank was a short lived affair in business from 1815 until such unchartered banks were prohibited in 1817-18. An entire denomination and type set for this bank comprises these four notes. The notes have a minimal number of minor impairments; the $1 has several very small patched body holes, the $3 has a replaced lower right corner tip and some minor repaired damage on the right end, and the $10 has some minor staining. The notes are all quite scarce to rare.
From the Aberon Collection of Virginia Obsolete Banknotes (Total: 4 notes)
