    Description

    Charlottesville, VA- Monticello Bank $8 July 1, 1861 G18a J-L BC25-21A PMG Fine 12.
This $8 was issued as the bank was transitioning to issuing unregistered notes in 1861. This note was not redesigned as the bank intended to issue new $1s and $2s and as a result it was simply placed in circulation without the state treasurer signature included. The note is fully intact without any repairs or meaningful condition shortcomings.
