(Austin, TX)- Treasury Warrant $150 Feb. 1, 1849 Cr. AW9A Medlar 17 About Uncirculated.
This warrant was issued to B.M. Hatfield in payment for a room for use by the House of Representatives. The payee may be Basil M. Hatfield, later known as the pilot of the steamboat Washington who skillfully navigated the Upper Brazos and Little Rivers bringing critical goods to isolated towns in the area. The warrant is pen-cancelled and endorsed with great embossing and only a faint centerfold.
