    Memphis, TN- The Mechanics Bank of Memphis $5 May 31, 1854 G6d Garland 689
    Portraits of Franklin, Washington, and Jackson appear on this $5 along with five allegorical maidens, including The Arts, Ceres, Navigation, America, and Liberty. This variety has the date changed to May 31st, 1854 from May 1st and two red "5" protectors. Garland rated it an R-10 in 1983, meaning that he knew of about 21 to 25 examples. The note grades Very Fine with a speck of ink erosion in the president's signature and a small spot.
