Fayetteville, TN - Fayetteville Tennessee Bank $100 Post Note December 4, 1818 G20 Garland 295
This was the first post note for the bank we cataloged from the bank when it was added to the collector fraternity's enjoyment in our multiple Newman Collection sales. It is in superb grade for this type of early dated and issued note. In impressive period style by Murray, Draper, Fairman & Co. At top center, an allegorical female semi-clad in a diaphanous gown floats in the clouds with a billowing POST NOTE banner. The oval dies flanking have the handwritten denomination. End panels are similar to the demand notes in the series, and show POST NOTE at left and TENNESSEE at right. Well framed and extraordinary quality. Rare and likely the finest. PCGS Extremely Fine 45PPQ.
