    Jackson's Brigade Commissary 10¢

    (Tennessee), Unknown Location- Jackson's Brigade Commissary W.C. Sibley A.C.S. 10¢ June 14, 1862
    An exciting Confederate military scrip note that was issued by (Major) William C. Sibley Assistant Commissary of Subsistence for the command of Brigadier General John K. Jackson, 5th Georgia Volunteer Infantry Regiment. The 5th first served in Florida taking part in the Battle of Santa Rosa Island in October 1861. Jackson was next sent to Grand Junction, Tennessee to reorganize Confederate units. General Jackson and his command went on to fight with distinction at Shiloh in April 1862. Major Sibley joined Jackson's staff in October 1862 and served on it until September 1864. Sibley was assigned to the Invalid Corps in December 1864. Jackson's troops would fight in the Stones River, Chattanooga, Atlanta, and Savannah campaigns. The end of the war saw Jackson in his hometown of Augusta, Georgia establishing a military depot. He died of pneumonia at the age of 38 in 1866 in Milledgeville, Georgia. PMG Choice Fine 15 Net, and nicely repaired.
