Rare Early Series Bank of St. Louis $1 Note

St. Louis, Missouri Territory - Bank of St. Louis (1st) $1 March 10, 1817 MO-45 G12 SENC. PCGS Fine 12 Apparent.
This is a first series Bank of St. Louis bank note printed without an imprint and a rare type. The series was not in the Vacca collection sale in 1981. Fully issued with strong signatures and date. This note has a very spare layout with obligations and titles in center. End panels show ST. LOUIS at left and ONE DOLL: at right, both oriented perpendicularly. Noted with "Edge Tears and Minor Damage; Mounting Remnants on Back." This is a well-printed example and first we have cataloged.

Truth Seeker: The Life of Eric P. Newman (softcover)
A powerful and intimidating dealer of the 1960s, backed by important colleagues, was accused of selling fraudulent gold coins and ingots to unsuspecting numismatists. Who would go up against a man like that and, over the course of decades, prove the fraud? Who would expose a widely respected scholar as a thief, then doggedly pursue recovery of coins that the scholar had stolen from an embarrassed numismatic organization, all over the objections of influential collectors who had bought coins with clouded titles? Eric P. Newman would - and did. Reserve your copy today.
