Rare Bishops' General Storehouse $1 Note

Salt Lake City, UT - Bishops' General Storehouse $1 January 1, 1896 Rust 245, Nyholm 314. PCGS Very Fine 20.
This desirable Mormon currency type is missing from many specialized Mormon collections auctioned in the past few decades. Any dollar-denominated note from this series is rare. The layout is still similar to other notes in the series, but the size format is wider than the change notes. Printed on light brown paper in deeper brown ink. An interesting border pattern with fancy corner details is around the perimeter. The die in the center shows the textual denomination ONE DOLLAR outlined by the background. On this series, the beehive appears on the central back emblem. Obligations are worded to be in compliance with federal law and private note issues. This is the first example we have cataloged.

Truth Seeker: The Life of Eric P. Newman (softcover)
A powerful and intimidating dealer of the 1960s, backed by important colleagues, was accused of selling fraudulent gold coins and ingots to unsuspecting numismatists. Who would go up against a man like that and, over the course of decades, prove the fraud? Who would expose a widely respected scholar as a thief, then doggedly pursue recovery of coins that the scholar had stolen from an embarrassed numismatic organization, all over the objections of influential collectors who had bought coins with clouded titles? Eric P. Newman would - and did. Reserve your copy today.
