    Description

Richmond, VA - Peoples Savings Bank 37-1/2 Cents September 3, 1861 Jones & Littlefield BR75-10. PCGS Very Good 10 Apparent.
A "three bits" note from this very scarce series. Printed on thin blue-gray paper. This has the common design used on other denominations, At the left end is standing Agriculture. The title is left of center, over the obligation. At the upper right is the "Female Riding Deer" vignette seen on bogus Confederate notes. Grading notes "Edge and Internal Splits and Tears; Soiling; Minor Mounting Remnants on Back." The flaws are not excessive and are typical for notes from this period and genre.
Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.

Truth Seeker: The Life of Eric P. Newman (softcover)
A powerful and intimidating dealer of the 1960s, backed by important colleagues, was accused of selling fraudulent gold coins and ingots to unsuspecting numismatists. Who would go up against a man like that and, over the course of decades, prove the fraud? Who would expose a widely respected scholar as a thief, then doggedly pursue recovery of coins that the scholar had stolen from an embarrassed numismatic organization, all over the objections of influential collectors who had bought coins with clouded titles? Eric P. Newman would - and did. Reserve your copy today.
