Providence, RI- Globe Bank $1000 18__ G78a Durand 1385 Proof PMG About Uncirculated 50 Net 4 POCs.
The bank was incorporated in 1831 and remained in business until becoming the Globe National Bank of Providence in 1865. This large denomination note, probably only intended for inter bank transactions, features a vignette of Justice standing at left and a huge round green die with 1000. A green tint covers most of the note. The note is printed on India paper mounted on cardstock with the usual POCs in the signature lines. PMG notes that a missing portion of the upper right margin has been repaired with piece produced on a printer. This restoration is not overly distracting. Not part of the ABNCo Archives holdings, this piece is likely unique. Color high denomination Proofs are always popular and this note should be no exception.
