    Description

Phenix, RI- Phenix Village Bank $10 18__ G10a as Durand 904 Proof PMG Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ.
The bank was incorporated in 1856 and was originally located in Warwick. It continued in business until succeeded by the Phenix National Bank in 1865. The striking design features a large vignette of men at work in an iron foundry and a portrait believed to be that of the bank's long time president, William B. Spencer. This is complemented by brick red design elements including a large red and white X protector The note is printed on India paper with the usual POCs in the signature lines. We are aware of three surviving proof examples of this note.
