    Description

Gloucester, NJ- Farmers Exchange Bank $10 May 1, 1808
Andrew Dexter, Jr. owned and controlled the bank. Farmers Exchange Bank was incorporated in February 1804 and had the dubious distinction of being the first bank to fail in the United States when it closed on March 24, 1809. That failure led to other bank failures. Ink erosion is observed in the signatures. Fine.
