Philadelphia, PA- Tradesmens Bank $50 18__ G16 as Hoober 305-606 Proof PMG About Uncirculated 53.
The bank was chartered in 1846 and continued in business until 1864 when it became the Tradesmens National Bank. The focal point of the note's design is an allegorical vignette of a maiden with barrels. The note is printed on India paper mounted on cardstock with no POCs in the signature lines. PMG mentions tears, although these are very difficult to locate with the note in the holder. There was one example of this design represented in the 1990 ABNCo Archives sale and it was also known to, and illustrated by, Haxby in his catalog. Quite rare and likely to stay that way.

    Estimate: $700 - $900.
