Philadelphia, PA- Bank of Pennsylvania $20 Dec. 1, 1856 G184c Hoober 305-100 PMG Very Fine 25.
From one of the nation's earliest banks that was organized in 1794, this note was issued less than a year before the bank failed during its revival period that lasted from 1843-1857. Strikingly printed in blue and red, the note has several POCs and several stamps on both the face and back indicating that partial dividends (settlements) had been paid out as late as at least June 29, 1861. PMG has noted the aforementioned cancels. We sold this same note for $552 more than a year ago.
