    Description

Coatesville, PA- Bank of Chester Valley $10 18__ as G10a as Hoober 69-4 Proof PMG Choice About Unc 58.
The bank was chartered in 1857 and went on to become the National Bank of Chester Valley in 1864. This lovely proof features portraits of a young farm girl and William Penn flanking an impressive vignette of men working on the floor of a large industrial plant. The note has a large orange and white TEN protector and an overall delicate orange tint. It is printed on India paper with the usual small POCs in the signature lines. A handful of examples of this variety, including this note, appeared in the 1990 ABNCo Archives sale. PMG mentions a small tear which is of no particular consequence.
