Description

Zanesville, OH - State Bank of Ohio, Muskingum Branch $1 June 1, 1862 OH-5 G1664a, Wolka 2949-08. PCGS Very Fine 25 Apparent.
The State Bank of Ohio series is broad, arguably endless for someone to ever complete. The series certainly covers "A" to "Z" among its branch locations. This American Bank Note Company layout features red counter surrounds and protector devices. A portrait of Judge Hosea Williams, engraved for the series, is beneath the arced title. At top left, Home Industry sits with standing Mechanics, a sailor, and farmers. The red back has titles in end ovals. Rarity-6 in Wolka indicates a few are known. Noted are "Edge Splits and Tears; Hinges on Back."

Truth Seeker: The Life of Eric P. Newman (softcover)
A powerful and intimidating dealer of the 1960s, backed by important colleagues, was accused of selling fraudulent gold coins and ingots to unsuspecting numismatists. Who would go up against a man like that and, over the course of decades, prove the fraud? Who would expose a widely respected scholar as a thief, then doggedly pursue recovery of coins that the scholar had stolen from an embarrassed numismatic organization, all over the objections of influential collectors who had bought coins with clouded titles? Eric P. Newman would - and did. Reserve your copy today.
