Description

Wooster, OH- Bank of Wooster $1 May 1, 1846
We have only been able to offer a few notes from this bank over the years. Wooster was founded in 1807 and was named for General David Wooster, a Revolutionary War hero. The bank was chartered on Feb. 14, 1834. Beginning on Feb. 28, 1848, the bank stopped payment in specie and refused to redeem their own notes. This $1 is the variety with a maiden seated by a sheaf of wheat in the central vignette. Good with the upper right corner missing. There will be no returns on this lot for any reason.
