DescriptionTiffin, OH- The Seneca County Bank $10 Aug. 9, 1854 G8a Wolka 2533-14
Part of State Treasurer John Breslin's ill gotten gain (he embezzled hundreds of thousands of dollars from the state) was "invested" in this bank which opened in 1847, narrowly avoided suspension in 1851, and collapsed in 1857 with heavy losses. This note grades Fine-Very Fine with a lovely unoxidized red back which is difficult to locate on these notes. Nice straight margins and square corners.
