Description

Steubenville, OH- The Bank of Steubenville $3 June 3, 1814 G18 Wolka 2474-07
Chartered in 1809, the bank operated until it failed in 1830. It was resuscitated in 1839 but failed again on September 11, 1841. A rare early note (four examples presently known) in Very Good-Fine condition with a Pittsburgh money exchanger stamp on the back. No damage other than a few inconsequential edge nicks and a small ink spot noted. These don't come around very often.
