    Description

Sandusky, OH- Nes Silicon Steel Co. $1; $2; $5 1874; Remainder Wolka
The steel company was in business around 1872-74 and was based in Rome, NY. These notes, issued during the Panic of 1873, probably represented the company's last gasp efforts to remain afloat. The $1 denomination is quite rare, more so because it is fully issued. The $2 is also fully issued, while the $5 is represented in the more commonly found remainder form. The notes grade Very Good or better, with the $2 having two mounting-residue areas on the back and the $5 having two hinge-remnant residue spots..
