Sand Run, OH- The Morris Store Co. 50¢ Undated Wolka 2377-04
Sand Run was in the heart of coal mining country in Ohio and maintained a Post Office and train station as late as 1895. The Buckeye Coal and Railway Co. was incorporated in 1899. The company owned 11,000 acres of land estimated to contain over 18,000,000 tons of coal. The 50¢ note grades Fine with a solitary small spot and a number of small internal body splits. It is presently unique and the only note of any denomination available. The Morris Store Co. was associated with the Morris Coal Company which had operations in the area. Like the other note in this lot it is presently believed to be unique and the only note of any kind available from this issuer. It grades Very Good with one short fold split. The likelihood of additional examples in any condition appearing any time soon is low.
