Early Ohio Scrip Sheet with Several Unlisted Notes

    New-Baltimore, OH - Private Issuer "at my Store" Uncut Sheet 1 Cent-2 Cents-3 Cents-6 Cents/9 Cents-12-1/2 Cents-25 Cents-50 Cents February 7, 1815 Wolka 1824. Remainder. PCGS Choice About New 58.
This is a great discovery from the Newman Collection uncut sheets as the issuer is very rare and several of the denominations are not known to Wolka (issuer 1824). The 1, 2, 3, 6, and 9 cents notes are unlisted. The first seven notes use an ornamental border to enclose the typeset obligations. The text of the 50 cents is on the face of what appears to be a tomb or monument, with two flowering vines passing through holes near the top. Though information about the issuer is mysterious, this is a highlight due to its charming style and great rarity. A most distinctive presentation.

Truth Seeker: The Life of Eric P. Newman (softcover)
A powerful and intimidating dealer of the 1960s, backed by important colleagues, was accused of selling fraudulent gold coins and ingots to unsuspecting numismatists. Who would go up against a man like that and, over the course of decades, prove the fraud? Who would expose a widely respected scholar as a thief, then doggedly pursue recovery of coins that the scholar had stolen from an embarrassed numismatic organization, all over the objections of influential collectors who had bought coins with clouded titles? Eric P. Newman would - and did. Reserve your copy today.
