Description

Elyria, OH- (Heman Ely) $1-$2-$3-$5 18__ Wolka 1079-05 Uncut Remainder Sheet
Heman Ely, the founder of Elyria, OH, issued these notes as part of his mercantile and quasi-banking business, probably dating from the 1820s to 1840s. Ely's first name is, in fact, "Heman", and not "Herman." A small hoard of about 125 uncut sheets appeared in the mid-1990s, but many of these have been cut and the number of uncut sheets continues to decline. Uncirculated.
