    Columbus, OH- The Clinton Bank of Columbus Counterfeit $5 (3) 1848-50 C8 (3) Wolka 0855-07 (3)
The bank was named after New York Governor DeWitt Clinton, recognized as the driving force behind the Erie Canal which served as the inspiration for public works projects across the midwest in the 1820s, 1830s, and 1840s. His portrait is incorporated on the left end of this design. The bank was chartered in 1834 and remained in business until 1854 when its charter expired. It was absorbed into the Franklin Branch of the State Bank of Ohio several years later. These notes grade Fine-Very Fine and better and are fully intact with no damage or repairs noted save for a few minor paper skins on the back of one example which have minimal impact, if any, on its desirability.
